Gardening has always been a shared hobby for our family. We were just talking the other day about our first garden project: a deck box to house our herbs in our condo.

When we started our married life in our New Jersey home, we transformed our backyard with nooks and crannies of gardens: a fire-pit to enjoy on those cool NJ evenings, raised garden beds, an herb garden, and selectively placed fruit trees.

We then decided to expand our gardening expertise and participate in the Cherry Hill Community Garden which provided a 20×20 plot of land. We had so much fun planning, harvesting, and designing new methods of watering and garden structures. The garden was maintained mostly by my hubby as I was in charge of keeping our oldest entertained (this is before our little dude arrived.)

This is one of the last family pictures from our home in NJ, before we moved briefly to VA and then on to FL – it is set in front of my Black-eyed Susan nook:

Our home in FL backs up to a conservation area and has such wonderful character; however, with that character comes completely different growing seasons, different climates and tropical foliage that takes over at the drop of a hat if you don’t keep up your maintenance! We are learning as we go, but are about to embark on a true learning journey of FL vegetable gardening. We also have big backyard plans in the fall, when the weather cools, to build a zen garden (this of course, was inspired by our recent weekend splurge watching all of the Karate Kid movies), and eventually, a chicken coup…but we have to take baby steps first!

We are so excited to share this journey, our garden transformations and our fun projects! We’ll be trying different methods of updates until we find our rhythm and hope by us sharing, will awaken your inner gardening spirit!
